Filonov – Centre Georges Pompidou Paris – Catalogo mostra (15 febbraio-30 aprile 1990) – lingua francese
French edition of the splendid catalogue about the monographic art exhibition Filonov, held at the Centre Georges Pompidou of Paris between 15 February and 30 April 1990. Dedicated to the life and huge art production of Pavel NikolaeviÄ Filonov (1883-1941), Russian painter, poet and art theorist, father of the original avant-garde movement, halfway between Cubism and Futurism, by himself named āAnalytical Realismā (āUniversal Floweringā), the volume, containing essays by renowned French and Soviet art historians and critics, recalls the busy human and creative rise of the Moscovite master, that, from Bolshevik revolutionary and favorite of the new Soviet arts, professor at Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts, fell from grace during Stalin's regime, to finally end in misery in the dreadful days of the Nazi siege of Leningrad. Endowed with b/w and full-color illustrations, the book is sold in very good conditions for its age, with only minimal yellowing halos at page margins, slight traces of wear at boards' angles and a pair of signs of folding on the back endpaper: an excellent specimen of a now hard to find catalogue, for all the lovers of Russian contemporary art!
