Daniela Catelli, L’esorcista: 25 anni dopo – «Punto Spot» 4 – PuntoZero – 1999
The booklet L'esorcista: 25 anni dopo (“The Exorcist: 25 Years After”), by journalist and film critic Daniela Catelli (*1958), besides being a stimulating investigation into the tòpos of exorcism, proposes itself as an exhaustive critical essay about the disturbing movie that, in 1973, literally drove millions of viewers mad all around the world. Inspired by the homonymous text by William Peter Blatty (1928-2017), William Friedkin's (1935-2023) feature film, by focusing the camera on a theme as frightening as provocative, enjoyed such a success of public, that it's considered an essential cornerstone of horror genre even today. In 8 clear chapters, the author tries to account for all movie's features, and for the reasons for its enormous fortune, examining in depth, among other themes, the director's and screenwriter's personalities, not forgetting curious anecdotes from the set. Printed in 1999, the little book, marked in pen with date and signature on the half-title page, is sold in good general conditions, except for some underlinings in pencil on certain pages, such as, however, not to disrupt the reading. Part of «Punto Spot» series by Bolognese publisher PuntoZero, L'esorcista: 25 anni dopo surely comes as an ideal deepening opportunity for all lovers of hair-raising cinema!
