US Army US Navy āTube JAN-1LN5 / VT-179 (SC 95 A)ā Radio Set Thermionic Valve ā Sylvania Electric Products (1944) ā WWII
Interesting thermionic valve for radio sets, supplied to US Army and US Navy during WWII. Pentode with āoctalā 8-pin base (B8G standard) in tin-plated steel, the 1LN5 vacuum tube, introduced between 1939 and 1940, known as VT-179 in military environment, was of fixed transconductance (μ) type, and found use, as radio-frequency (RF) and intermediate-frequency (IF) amplifier, in a wide range of US Army and US Navy receiving devices (from here, the Ā«JANĀ» marking, or rather Joint Army Navy, reported on the packaging). Complete with its original box, the valve, produced in February 1944 by the famous Sylvania electronic industries of Emporium (Pennsylvania), is sold untested, but in excellent conservation conditions: a real bargain, both for radio repairers and 1941-1945 US militaria collectors!
