Lee-Enfield Rifle Trigger Pull Gauge - Fabbrica Armi Terni (1952)
Wonderful trigger pull gauge for Lee-Enfield infantry rifle, of British production but Italian regeneration, dating back to the immediate post-WWII period. Manufactured in brass, the dynamometer shows, on a side, a rigid stirrup, riveted to the spring's cylindrical case, on the other one, a robust articulated joint with a foldable lever, about 15 cm long, to lean, through a rolling shoe element, against the trigger whose force was to be measured: quantified in pounds, this last one was readable on the central body's graduated scale, from a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 16 (slightly more than 7 kg), with a resolution of ¼ lb. All gauge components appear blackened, except for the spring case, finished in glossy brass. Of surely British manufacture, a post-1945 Allied surplus, the tool, right after the conflict, was regenerated for the Italian Army by the historical Arsenale of Terni, as remembered, on the central body's back, by the punched marking «FAT 52», that is to say «Fabbrica Armi Terni 1952». In excellent preservation conditions, the piece, now hard to find, surely will make the joy of all post-1945 Italian militaria collectors, as well as of all owners of the legendary Lee-Enfield rifle in search of original accessories!
