Beautiful Soviet civilian labour medal, dating back to the 1970s. Established on 18^th January 1974, the decoration was awarded for “long and distinguished working career” to all workers of USSR's economy, sciences, culture, education, healthcare, public organizations and government agencies, as well as to officers, NCOs and troops of Ministry of Internal Affairs' units, on reaching the seniority required for a long-service pension or retirement age. Manufactured in silver-plated and oxidised tombac, the medal shows, on the recto, a hammer and sickle surmounting the wording «СССР» (“USSR”), with diverging rays and laurel branch: below the group, along the lower border of the disk, a ribbon with the inscription «ВЕТЕРАН ТРУДА» (“Veteran of Labour”) closes the composition. On the verso, instead, the decoration remembers, embossed on four lines, the assignment reason: «ЗА ДОЛГОЛЕТНИЙ ДОБРОСОВЕСТНЫЙ ТРУД», namely, in English, “For Long Diligent Labour”. Complete with its grey-white-red ribbon, tightened around the pentagonal mount typical of Soviet awards, fitted with the original certificate, released in 1982 to Arkadij Ivanovič Kirsanov by the Internal Affairs Direction of the Perm Regional Executive Committee, the medal is sold in excellent preservation conditions: a true killer deal for all post-1945 Soviet memorabilia collectors!
