Couple of "Perfectum" Gauze Bandage Packages - ARP British Army - WWII
Interesting couple of British gauze bandage packages, dating back to the Second World War. Manufactured by the Arthur Berton textile industries of London, according to the British Pharmaceutical Codex (B.P.C.) standards, the kits, issued to British military as much as to the Air Raid Precaution (ARP) civil defense services, included, inside a light blue wrapping with a cloth tear strip for a quick opening, in one case, a 3 Ins x 4 Yds khaki, open woven gauze bandage, in the other, an absorbent dressing, also of gauze, 2½ Yds long. Conceived for wounds, contusions and burns medication, the packets are sold in very good conditions, except for a tear at an edge of the 2½ Yds kit's wrapping, which, in fact, partially reveals the content - see photos. Of great emotional impact, the dressings take our minds back to the dramatic days of Nazi bombings on UK cities, and suit particularly well for the placement in WWII British militaria collections. British dell’ultimo conflitto mondiale.
