US Army M1 Carbine Oiler - International Silver - WWII
Nice specimen of M1 Carbine oiler, issued to US military during the Second World War. Manufactured in sturdy parkerized steel to better withstand corrosion, the lubricator, cylindrical in shape, was fitted with grooved edge screw cap, flat-cut tip steel pin and rubber seal gasket: on the inside of the tank, slightly recessed into the border, a washer, likewise in rubber, allowed to drip the excess oil on the pin before the application. For a construction peculiarity of the M1 Carbine, among other things, the oiler, housed in the weapon's stock, permitted to properly install ā and hold in place ā the rifle shoulder strap itself, too. In excellent conservation conditions, the exemplar for sale, still reporting on the base the Ā«ISĀ» marking of the producer ā the silverware giant International Silver, headquartered in Meridien, Connecticut -, comes therefore as an interesting piece for every collector intent on rebuilding the personal gear of the typical 1941-1945 American G.I.
