US Army āFirst-Aid Packet Carlisle Modelā - Olive Drab Tin Box, With Sulfanilamide (1941) - WWII
2nd-generation Carlisle first aid packet, dating back to WWII. Introduced in the 1920s and then progressively improved, in autumn 1941, the kit, originally made of brass, abandoned the precious metal in favor of the more economic tin, keeping, in brass, just the tear tab opening. Issued to each American soldier, the package included a linen bandage and a shaker-top envelope with sulfanilamide crystals, to scatter on wound surface in antibacterial function ā feature, this last one, underlined by the embossed inscription, on the back of the box, Ā«with crystalline sulfanilamideĀ». Fund of store, the dressing, in the typical US Army olive drab livery, presents itself in excellent conservation conditions, with only some wear signs on the varnish, due to the rubbing of the embossed details: an essential must-have for every collector of last World War's American militaria.
