US Army āCover Protective Individualā Anti-Gas Wrap / Cloak (1944) ā WWII
Interesting anti-gas protective cover, supplied to US Army during WWII. Designed to shelter the serviceman from attacks with vescicant agents (as the infamous mustard gas, appeared in the trenches of WWI), the cover, once unrolled, took the shape of a cloak, and, thanks to a combination of green and transparent plastic, allowed to cover the soldier's whole body, together with his weapon and gear, still permitting him to look outside. Wrapped in a special aluminium cloth foil, the accessory, if needed, could also perform, in a foxhole, a useful rainproof function. Found of store, the specimen for sale shows all its wordings clearly legible, contract number and production year (1944) included: a real must-have for all last World War's US militaria collectors.
