"META" Portable Camping Stove + Solid Fuel Packet - Made in Switzerland - '40s-'50s

Funny vintage camping set, composed by a ā€œMETAā€ portable stove and a solid fuel packet of the same brand, dating back to the 1940s-1950s. Conceived for leisure - but similar accessories were standard issue of many European armies till the end of the '60s, too -, the stove, of compact size, was made up of three elements, easily nestable one inside the other to save space during transport: a brazier, with a housing for the fuel, a little saucepan, with foldable handles and a bottom to insert in the base, and finally a lid. Entirely manufactured in aluminium, the food warmer bears on the cover, in addition to patent punchings - the German one, by the way, dates the piece back to before 1952 -, the brand of the producer: the Swiss industries META, headquartered in Basel, property of the Lonza chemical group, which was the first, in 1923, to synthesize, from calcium carbide, a practical solid fuel of metaldehyde (hence the trade name ā€œMETAā€). In good conditions, except for some light dents and comprehensible combustion marks inside the brazier, the stove comes with a 20 security fuel tablet packet of the same brand and model described above, never opened, still in the original wrapping, with illustrated label and instructions for use: an irresistible offer for all lovers of bygone camping gear!
