"Case Mortar Clino Mk I" - British Army 3" Mortar Inclinometer Case - R. Ling & Son (1940) - WWII
Beautiful 3ā mortar inclinometer case, issued to the British Army during WWII. Manufactured by R. Ling & Son, historical saddlery of London-Poplar, the container, dated 1940, is made of sturdy dark brown leather, with cotton seams, copper rivets and eyelet strap closure. Provided with belt loops and, on the inside, two wooden supports for locking the aiming device during transport, the piece still shows, on the cover, some inscriptions clearly legible, indicating equipment model, producer, production year and government acceptance (please notice, in photo, the small Ā«āĀ» Broad Arrow, with Ā«CĀ» and Ā«36Ā», right above the closure strap rivet), as well as a flashy white stamping (Ā«No6Ā») on the right and left of the central band. In very good conservation conditions, the item suits well for the placement in Early-War British militaria collections.
